It is shown that, at midlatitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, the horizontal projection of the magnetic-field disturbance vector at the frequency of the first Schumann mode rotates counterclockwise when the observation is made from above. For the second Schumann resonance, the polarization is linear in the daytime and elliptical at night, with clockwise rotation of the polarization ellipse. Gyrotropy of the ionosphere and/or the magnetosphere and excitation of Schumann resonances by cosmic sources are possible causes of the observed polarization asymmetry.
