Projected rotational velocities (v sin i) from ESO-CASPEC spectra of 15 T Tauri stars, members of the Chamaeleon 1 and 2 dark clouds, are derived. From a comparison of the derived observational HR diagram with theoretical tracks for premain sequence stars, masses and evolutionary phases are estimated for some of the stars, and these data are related to their rotational status. For these stars, faster rotators are found among higher mass stars, in agreement with the separation between fast and slow rotators in the HR diagram observed by other authors.
