Quasi-periodic variations of the rotation angle of the polarization plane (Phi) of 136-MHz signals from the Sirio satellite were analyzed on the basis of measurements performed at the Alma-Ata station. It is shown that variations of Phi with a period of less than 30 min are probably due to interference between direct and ground-reflected signals, arising during the evolution of the satellite orbit. A noon maximum is found to predominate in the occurrence of Phi variations with periods exceeding 40 min; these variations are shown to be connected with ionospheric wave disturbances due to the penetration of acoustic-gravity waves, generated in the troposphere, into the ionosphere.
