Spectra taken with nebular spectrographs of the Haute Provence Observatory (35 A/mm in the 6450-6800 A range and 92 A/mm in the 3700-5100 A range) yield a linear rotation curve for the peculiar edge-on galaxy NGC 2976; the curve is slightly steeper for the NW region than for the SE one; this leads to a very small mass of two billion solar masses. This mass and the low luminosity (420 million solar luminosities) classify this galaxy as a late spiral. It is found that NGC 2976 as a whole contains large H II regions of moderate excitation.
