The German scientific satellite Rosat is intended to observe soft X-ray sources in deep space with a sensitivity not achieved so far. Adequate suppression of stray light disturbance is therefore inevitable. The aim of the stray light analysis was to check whether the telescope, including the thermal baffle which is designed mainly by thermal requirements, meets the stray light requirements. Using the ray-tracing program GUERAP III, the stray light behavior of complex structures with distinct consideration of surface properties can be simulated numerically. From the identification of important stray light paths, constructive measures for improved stray light behavior were derived. Quantitative values for the stray light suppression are obtained using the results of all the simulations carried out. It can be shown that the configuration of the Rosat telescope meets the requirements.
