Emission-Line Galaxies: X-Ray Spectra

Scientific paper

The authors present ROSAT PSPC spectra of the largest sample so far (35 objects) of X-ray selected narrow emission line galaxies (NELGs): 16 of these are from the ROSAT International X-ray Optical Survey (RIXOS), and the rest (19 objects) were discovered during the optical identification of ROSAT UK deep survey sources. A power-law model with low-energy absorption set at the Galactic value is a good fit for all sources. The authors' results seem to point to the spectral slope of NELGs being flatter (Γ ≡ 1.6) than that of AGN (Γ ≡ 1.9).
