An investigation to determine the number of WTTS (Weak line T Tauri Stars) and their spatial distribution, to study their physical properties, and to find possible differences between these parameters and the individual star forming regions is presented. An algorithm was used to cross correlate positions in the Simbad database with Rosat PSPC (Position Sensitive Proportional Counter). To identify the x ray sources without known optical counterparts, extensive spectroscopic observations were carried out. Results show that the WTTS are distributed over a much larger area than classical TTS, which tend to be concentrated near the cloud cores. This indicates that the WTTS may be useful in tracing the history of star formation in star forming regions, although the sample of WTTS is as yet too small to draw any further conclusion.
