Polar-aurora rocket data concerning O2 emission at 7619 A are analyzed in conjunction with other theoretical and experimental data. It is shown that the eta(7619)/eta(4278) ratio depends on the type and parameters of the precipitating-electron flux as well as on the concentration of atomic oxygen. The main mechanism for the excitation of O2Atm(0-0) is the transfer of energy from O(1D); for large values of nitrogen-atom concentration at heights above 100 km, energy transfer from N(2D) also plays an important role in the excitation of O2Atm(0-0).
