New interferometric observations of the diffuse emission of NGC 6888 are reported. The halfwidths of the H alpha and 6584-A forbidden N II lines emitted by the smoothly distributed interfilament gas are 250 + or - 50 km/sec, 210 + or - 60 km/sec, respectively, values five times the halfwidth of these lines in the filaments. The contrasts of the filaments above the diffuse background are found to be 12 + or - 3, and 6 + or - 3. The nature of the ring nebulae observed around Wolf-Rayet stars is discussed.
