A review is made of the solar observations identified with the n = 2-2 transitions of elements in the fourth period of the periodic table. The identifications are mainly with transitions of the solar abundant elements calcium and iron. The majority of observations are of solar flares. Some new identifications are presented. The study illustrates the usefulness of the n = 2-2 transitions for the measurement of electron densities. It, also, clearly demonstrates the need for observations having the highest possible spectral resolution, especially in the spectral region around a wavelength of 100 Å.
