Experiments at LEP and SLD over the last several years have enabled many incisive tests of the standard model to be performed. In this paper, recent data taken at LEP and the SLD at the Z0-pole are reviewed. Aspects of the precision tests of the standard electroweak theory involving radiative corrections are discussed. To date, there are no significant deviations of the data from theoretical predictions. Limits on the `new frontier' of electroweak physics, involving the direct detection of the higgs particle, suggest that experimental tests on this sector of the theory may be obtainable within the next decade.
