Data are presented on the chemical composition of the Stannern eucrite fusion crust, with particular attention given to the distribution profiles of various oxides in the crust in relation to the distance from crust's exterior surface. It is shown that the fusion crust is constituted of two layers. The inner layer, which is more massive than the outer, is chemically heterogeneous, indicating that its components did not melt thoroughly during the rapid melting process. The vesicular outer layer of the eucrite is homogenous, exhibiting slight chemical zonality; thus, relative to the inner subzones of the outer crust layer, the outer subzones, which are closer to the crust surface, exhibit increased concentrations of Na2O, K2O, and Al2O3 and decreased contents of FeO and MgO, indicating that, during rapid heating, the rates of evaporation of these components were determined by kinetic dissociation of the mineral relics of the melt.
