This paper presents the major results of shop tests of the surface of the 6-meter LAT mirror using the modified Hartmann method developed at the SAO of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The auxiliary apparatus for performing engineering testing of the surface is described. The agreement of the results obtained by the Hartmann method and by other methods, used under shop conditions, is discussed; the prospects for the future development of the method are outlined.
