Using measurements of distortions in shape of the solar disk when observed from space through the atmosphere, variations in refraction are assessed. It is shown that the refractive weakening of the light intensity is subjected to variations that are several times greater than the average value. On the basis of the refraction measurements, vertical profiles are obtained of the density and temperature disturbances in the atmosphere between 5 and 25 km.
