The response of magnetospheric Pc2 variations to IMF modulus variations is investigated on the basis of data obtained at the Borok midlatitude observatory. It is shown that Pc2 pulsations are not a homogeneous type of geomagnetic pulsations but are a mixture of at least two varieties, one of which may be due to the instability of O(+) ion distribution in the radiation belts, while the other may be due to the instability of the H(+) ion distribution before the bow shock front.
