In the present paper, the properties of several families of resonant periodic orbits in a general, time-independent, two-dimensional potential field, symmetric with respect to both axes x and yy are discussed. The different cases are classified by varying the parameters of the problem. In order to verify the theoretical results, some numerical examples are also presented.
