Lunar Laser Ranging, Event Timer, Lunar Exploration Project

Lunar Laser Ranging (LLR) is a great goal in the world and it represents the height of the single photon detection. In this paper, the current status and development at the beginning of the 21st century for LLR all over the world are summarized; and the meaning of developing LLR in China is analyzed. Finally, the development and scientific goal of LLR for the 1.2m telescope in Yunnan Observatory are introduced.
