Field Correctors: Optical Design

Scientific paper

Normally the atmosphere dispersion compensator (ADC) is a permanent feature in the image corrector, even though at times the ADC is not needed. For the Cassegrain focus it is possible to design a removable ADC, which can be taken out to achieve higher light transmission. Three such design examples are given in this paper. All of them are designed for the Cassegrain focus of the planned NOAO 8-meter telescope project.
