By means of a mathematical analysis of stellar CCD-image frames, taken with ground-based telescopes with longer integration times, it is shown that the information content of stellar images is less degraded by seeing than has previously been supposed. Thus closer double stars can be resolved and photometrically deconvolved by the proposed method. It can also be applied to stellar photography and spectroscopy.
