We propose an effective model useful to describe an extended object with bounded acceleration, evolving in a Minkowski spacetime. The effective model involves the extrinsic curvature of the worldvolume generated by the object along its evolution. The second order nature of the theory leads to equations of motion of fourth order in the field variables. We show that, in the case of codimension one brane immersed in a Minkowski spacetime, the equations of motion reduce to a Klein-Gordon type equation. For illustration, we study the dynamics of a (3+1)-dimensional spherical surface, which exhibits a bounded acceleration expansion and discuss its application in braneworld cosmology.
