Using multi-dimensional Particle-In-Cell simulations of the relativistic explosion of a strongly magnetized collisionless plasma, we recently discovered a new particle energization mechanism which we call the diamagnetic relativistic pulse accelerator (DRPA). For an electron-positron plasma, this mechanism efficiently converts over 80ultra-relativistic directed energy of the surface particles. When these PIC simulations are continued to > 10000 electron gyroperiods, key features emerge which resemble the characteristic signatures of cosmic gamma-ray bursts, including their spectra, time profiles and spectral evolution. We will highlight the key results of these PIC simulations and their astrophysical implications.
