Given the extreme accuracy reached in future global space astrometry, a mission such that GAIA will need a global relativistic modeling of observations. Outlining the importance of having a consistent relativistic approach all the way through the data analysis, we present also why GAIA observations will lead, in return, to an improvement of some General Relativity tests much beyond the current level.
