The "mean tendency of well-separated galaxies to approach each other" -- or the mean pairwise streaming velocity -- can be used to contrain cosmological parameters. It has been shown that this extension of the Cosmic Virial Theorem to larger separations allows one to estimate both the cosmological density parameter and the clustering amplitude of matter on large scales. We discuss this method and its application to real surveys.
