A systematic study of the relationship between the maximum magnetic flux of an active region and its lifetime was carried out using observations with the panoramic magnetograph of the Sayan Observatory of the Institute of Solar and Terrestrial Physics, together with data collected at other observatories. The power-law relationship log phi = 14 + 1.2^(lg t) was derived. This relation is valid over the entire spectrum of active-region scales, revealing common features in the organization of solar magnetic structures.
