A statistical analysis is presented of the relationship between components of the geomagnetic field vector at 14 high-latitude stations of the Northern Hemisphere and components of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) vector for summer and winter months of 1968. Equivalent current systems are constructed which represent the relationship between variations of the geomagnetic field and variations of the Bx, By, and Bz components of the IMF. A model is proposed that makes it possible to determine mean-hourly values of the three components of the geomagnetic field vector at high latitudes from mean-hourly variations of IMF vector components.
