I will present numerical simulations of cosmological reionization. This is the first simulation that attempts to include a complete (albeit approximate) treatment of the radiative transfer. Reionization proceeds in two main stages: first, ionization fronts propagate into voids and quickly ionize the low density intergalactic medium. However, at this stage the high-density filamentary structures remain neutral, and the universe as a whole remains opaque. In the second stage the ionizing radiation eats into filaments until they become ionized and the universe becomes transparent. Because reionization proceeds in two stages leads, the uniform-sources approximation of Gnedin & Ostriker alctually works remarkably well: it totally misses the first stage, but correctly captures the second, more important state of reionization. Implications of this work to the studies of the Lyman-alpha forest are discussed at the end of the talk.
