The quadrupole component and the degree of polarization of the microwave background after its propagation through a reheated inter-galactic gas in an anisotropic universe are presented through analytic expressions. A Bianchi type I cosmology and a simplified history for the intergalactic gas are considered, giving results for a wide range of optical depths and for the gas temperature. For gas temperatures of greater than 10 to the 7th - 8th K, Comptonization effects on the polarization and quadrupole components can be important.
