It is shown that for particles with fairly large pitch angles, the
adiabaticity of charged-particle motion in the central field of the
magnetosphere is defined by the transverse magnetic field gradient. It
is shown that under certain conditions, there may occur local regions of
nonadiabaticity which affect the particle annihilation probability.
