Redshifts are obtained from spectrophotometric scans of 61 galaxies distributed throughout the core and inner halo of the HMS 1247-4102 cluster of galaxies in Centaurus. The heliocentric radial velocities of the 61 galaxies are given, their apparent distribution in the sky is plotted, and the galaxies are classified morphologically as 18% E-type, 49% S0-type, 31% S-type, and 1.5% I-type. It is found that there are two centers of concentration in the cluster, with the E and S0 galaxies defining a reasonably symmetric system whose center lies about 0.25 deg to the east of the brightest cluster galaxy (NGC 4696) and the S galaxies forming an irregular assembly whose center is slightly to the west of NGC 4696. Analysis of the cluster redshifts yields a value of 1500 km/s for the cluster velocity dispersion and a virial mass of 1.4 by 10 to the 15th power solar masses. An attempt is made to correlate X-ray luminosity with velocity dispersion for the Centaurus, Perseus, Coma, Virgo, Hercules, A262, A1060, A1367, and A2199 clusters of galaxies.
