In a previous paper Papapetrou (1976) considered the solution to the cosmological problem of the spherically symmetric perturbation of the metric of an expanding universe containing an ideal fluid with vanishing pressure. A consequence of this perturbation of the metric would be a variation in the red shift of the light which passes through the perturbation. This paper develops formulas for determining the variation in the red shift and applying them to the case when the light passes through the symmetry center of the perturbation.
