New spectrophotometric data for various H II-like clumps within the giant irregular galaxy NGC 7673 are presented, along with velocity measurements. The intrinsic reddening and the Balmer absorption lines contamination are determined and discussed, and the physical parameters of the emitting gas are studied, including the electron density, ionization mechanism, electron temperature and abundance ratios, and the equivalent number of ionizing stars and the mass used up in their formation as a function of their effective temperature. Some shock-heated gas appears to be present, suggesting supernova activity and very recent star formation.
