The reduction of seeing induced by turbulence within the telescope enclosure, as well as the minimization of optical aberrations of the telescope itself, are crucial for optimization of imaging performance in astronomy, particularly with the advent of adaptive-optics systems. At the Isaac Newton Group we have invested significant effort in the comparison of the intrinsic site seeing with the image quality obtained with the 4.2-m William Herschel Telescope as part of the Half Arcsecond Programme. A sizeable data set has now been collated which facilitates diagnosis of contributions to image width from within the dome. The collection and implications of these data are discussed.
