Results from classical three-dimensional potential theory are used here to derive a new formula for the deflection angle of elliptical gravitational lens models. The results from using the formula are equivalent to those obtained using the formulation introduced by Bourassa and Kantowski (1975), but the new formula is easier to use for numerical purposes. The formula can be used to describe reflectors with curves of isodensity that are concentric, similar, amd similarly situated ellipses.
