The X-ray Timing Explorer (XTE) spacecraft is due for launch on 31st August 1995 and will contain a large Proportional Counter Array (PCA) developed at GSFC. Telemetry from XTE will be returned via the NASA Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) which will, apart from specific gaps in coverage, provide a steady stream of nearly continuous real time data packets. The PCA is very large in area and will produce high count rates for many x-ray sources. This provides the potential for some serious interpretation and decision making in semi-real time. The display programs developed fall into 4 classes: 1) Housekeeping 2) General performance (Instrumental and calibration bias) 3) Spectral (Science bias) 4) Temporal (Science bias) These displays will be used by the Duty Scientist and others to monitor the observation in progress to try and ensure that the observation is proceeding as planned and that modifications to the observing modes are not required. This paper provides examples of the available display options to illustrate their power and flexibility.
