We present preliminary results of 9-epoch VLBA observations of the nearby BL Lac Object 1219+285 at 15 & 22 GHz. We have estimated the superluminal velocities and epochs of birth for several VLBI components. We find evidence that three components were born one month or less after optical outbursts, suggesting a possible relationship between optical outbursts and the creation of new superluminal components, but further analyses are required to test this idea more thoroughly.
