Observations were made of carbon recombination-line spectra toward several reflection nebulae which are illuminated by B-type stars. OH and H2CO spectra were observed in order to sample some of the characteristics of the molecular clouds in the vicinity of these nebulae. The compact C II region toward NGC 2023 was found to be centered about 1 arcmin south of the illuminating star. The electron density of this C II region is probably 10-25 per cu cm. C158-alpha was detected toward both NGC 2068 and NGC 2071 (both M78); the electron density in this ionized-carbon region is probably of the order of 1 per cu cm. A sulfur recombination line was detected toward NGC 2068. C158-alpha was detected toward the illuminating star of NGC 7023, but the ionized carbon is probably centered about 4 arcmin east of this star at the position of a radio continuum source and a CO 'hotspot'. Carbon lines were not detected toward NGC 1333, NGC 7129, or S140.
