We have detected a new transient radio source, GCRT J1745-3009, in a 7 hr archival VLA observation of the Galactic center at 0.33 GHz. The transient exhibited five 1 Jy bursts, each 10 minutes in duration, every 1.27 hr (Nature, 434, 50-52, 2005) on 30 September 2002. The characteristics of this source suggest that it is a member of a new class of possibly coherently emitting objects, or a hitherto unknown mode of activity of an existing class. We present results from new radio observations made this year to detect GCRT J1745-3009 and results from additional archival observations.
