The 10.7-GHz radio continuum emission from 76 galaxies of various types and morphologies and from four extragalactic H II regions is compared with the blue optical luminosity and B-V colors of the 80 sources. The results show that the bluer galaxies tend to have an excess radio emission and that blue compact galaxies resemble large H II regions in spiral galaxies. It is suggested that the enhanced star formation rate in blue galaxies is responsible for the excess radio emission.
