A model of the bisymmetric ejection of gas observed near compact accreting objects is proposed. A dense gas cloud is formed above an accretion disk (e.g., by instability of the inner parts of that disk). This gas blob is then collimated, confined, and accelerated by the intense radiation field of the disk. As the blob is blown out, some of its material is peeled off by shear with the surroundings. This may cause the appearance of a continuous jet. Calculations show that gas blobs can be accelerated to the very high speeds inferred for very long baseline interferometry sources. Global conditions that must prevail in the disk and the cloud for such acceleration to be efficient are derived. It is concluded that the scenario is a viable alternative for continuous gas flow in jets.
