The radiation of ion-acoustic waves by the electromagnetic wave soliton travelling through a "transition" layer at a supersonic velocity is considered. The transition layer is a plasma density jump "blurred" over a finite length. It is shown, that soliton loses energy in form of radiated ion acoustic waves during its acceleration when passing over a density jump. The space-time distribution of the acoustic field is investigated. The energy carried away by radiation is estimated.
