The asymptotic behavior of the computed expectation values for a massless scalar field in a two-dimensional Vaidya spacetime is investigated. A Schwarzschild black hole resulting from a gravitational collapse is used as an example. It is shown that a good agreement exists between the quantum-mechanically derived energy-momentum tensor and the classical radiative one. The Hawking (1975) results are reproduced using an Unruh (1976) vacuum.
