The radial distribution of extragalactic supernovae of types I and II in spiral (S) and elliptical (E/SO) galaxies is investigated. From the 479 extragalactic supernovae registered before 1979, the distributions of the 147 supernovae in galaxies with known parameters, including the 114 that exploded in S galaxies (30 type I, 19 type II and 65 undetermined) and the 33 that exploded in E/SO galaxies are determined as functions of distance from their galactic centers for galaxies less than or equal to 30 Mpc and greater than 20 Mpc from the Milky Way. Type I supernovae in S-galaxies are found to be concentrated in galactic centers, as are those in E/SO galaxies, while the type II supernova distribution in S galaxies exhibits a ring structure with a maximum at a relative distance to the galactic center of between 0.3 and 0.4. Results are interpreted to support the view that the fraction of type I supernova formed at the white dwarf stage is not very large.
