The radar observations of 44 Nysa and 434 Hungaria are the first for E-class main-belt asteroids (MBAs). These asteroids have the highest measured polarization ratios of MBAs to date: Nysa, μc = 0.50 ± 0.02 and Hungaria, μc = 0.8 ± 0.1. They also display high radar albedos relative to other recorded MBAs; 0.19 ± 0.06 for Nysa and 0.22 ± 0.06 for Hungaria, which suggest high surface bulk density (Magri et al. 2001). From our spectra, we model Nysa as an ellipsoid of dimension 113 x 67 x 65 km (±15%) which gives an effective diameter Deff = 79 ± 10 km. These values are consistent with previous estimates. In addition, we find Nysa's echo waveforms are not consistent with a bifurcated object (Kaasalainen et al. 2002). Analysis of Hungaria's bandwidths allow us to place a constraint on its maximum diameter, Dmax ≥ 11 km, which is also consistent with previous size estimates. All observations were made at the Arecibo Observatory with the support of NSF grants.
