The procedures used in the radar mapping of the Venus surface by the Venera 15 and 16 probes are described, and fragments of a radar panorama obtained by Venera-15 are presented. It is noted that this mapping mission makes it possible to map small morphological features of the surface for the first time. High-resolution radar imaging has been extended to previously unstudied areas of the planet.
