There are several R&D efforts around the world working toward huge liquid argon detectors for nucleon decay, neutrino astrophysics and CP-violation in the lepton sector. In this proceedings, we describe several R&D tasks. Some of the differences between those techniques will be covered, as well as the current status of those efforts. We will describe a recently developed technique called the double phase detector.
