Two periods of quiet solar wind with no particles observed backstreaming from the earth's bow-shock are investigated to show that different ion species follow similar trends in terms of changes in the bulk speed and changes in particle number density. Several ion species in the solar wind are detected with the EGD plasma experiment on board ISEE-B, the time development of eight of the observed peaks is followed, and the bulk speeds of the ions are shown to be very close to each other, changing all together when a discontinuity is observed. If the (He-4)(2+) abundance increases, the same occurs for the Si, O-(+7) and O-(+6) abundances, and the O-(+6) fluctuations seem to be anticorrelated with (He-4)(2+) density fluctuations.
