Spacecraft can produce continuous low thrust for extended periods by
using ion drives or solar sails. This enables them to remain stationary
in a weak gravitational field or in a quasi stationary orbit. This paper
examines the theory, technology and possible applications of these
orbits, with emphasis on deep space communications.
