A quantum-mechanical generalization is presented for the Biot-Savart Law, which has applications to the determination of the magnetic field created at any point in space by a current of arbitrary geometry and to the study of magnetic effects on currents. A general expression for a magnetic field generated by a quantized current is employed to analyze problems of classical electrodynamics, in particular those involving a circular loop, a solenoid or a straight wire. The quantum-mechanical version of the Biot-Savart Law also has relevance to the study of the origins of magnetic fields in collapsed stellar objects.
