A simple mathematical model is proposed which describes the distribution of the magnetic field vector-potential and the volume current density corresponding to systems I and II of magnetospheric field-aligned currents. The model takes into account the 'curtain' structure of the systems and the convergence of current lines toward the earth. Thus, the proposed model is suitable for describing the contribution of field-aligned currents in the entire lower magnetosphere, including the upper ionospheric region.
