We describe the instrument and first year results from QUaD, a 31 pixel bolometric polarimeter designed to measure the polarization of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) at 100 and 150 GHz. QUaD, commissioned in 2005, is situated at the South Pole, and has completed a year of successful CMB observations, covering about 80 square degrees. In this talk we present the instrument design, observation strategy and our observations, as well as first year temperature and polarization anisotropy measurements.
